Tim Speed first became interested in aviation when he was in Air Scouts. He earned his business degree in the United Kingdom and joined the British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) after graduation. He served as a stations officer in Dubai, Tokyo and Beirut before returning to the UK to join the BOAC’s Air Cargo Division. Later Tim began working for an air freight forwarder. He then immigrated to Canada in 1980 with his family. Before retiring, he was the CEO of a large air freight and logistics company.

On May 16 1943, Operation Chastise was one of the most iconic RAF Bomber Command missions of WWII. We will learn about how Sir Barnes Wallis developed the bouncing bomb that destroyed the hydroelectric dams, and the contribution that Canadian aircrew made during the mission.

This will be held as a hybrid meeting. Join the Zoom meeting through this link. No pre-registration is required.

At each of our meetings there is a brief period allotted to the business of the Society, followed by a speaker, or presentation on some aspect of local history or heritage. Afterward there are refreshments and conversation which play an important part in keeping alive the Community spirit. We hope to see you there!
