Heritage Minister, Sheila Copps recently announced that Canada will finally have a National cemetery, located in Ottawa near the War Museum, where Canadian veterans and soldiers may be buried. Like other large Canadian cities, such as Hamilton, monuments and memorials to soldiers and service men can also be found in the Waterdown area. These memorials may be found on a gravestone or by plaques inside churches. In many municipal cemeteries a traditional plain white stone marks the memory of former soldiers.
