History of the Hamilton Spectator - POSTPONED @ Grace Anglican Church - Noble Hall | Hamilton | Ontario | Canada

Jeff Mahoney has been a reporter and columnist with the Spectator for 30 years. During this time he has been writing about culture and lifestyle stories, commentary and humour. He now focuses on human interest stories including local history.

The Hamilton Spectator was first published in 1846 as “The Hamilton Spectator and Journal of Commerce”. It was founded as a semi-weekly newspaper by Robert Smiley. Jeff will tell us about how the paper started and some of the stories that have been covered over the years.

Due to unforeseen circumstances this meeting topic has been postponed. Please visit our events page for the replacement topic, “WWI Postcards”, to be presented by Jonathan Vance via Zoom.

At each of our meetings there is a brief period allotted to the business of the Society, followed by a speaker, or presentation on some aspect of local history or heritage. Afterward there are refreshments and conversation which play an important part in keeping alive the Community spirit. We hope to see you there!
