The History of Crime Stoppers - Cal Miller - October Public Meeting @ St. James United Church | Hamilton | Ontario | Canada

Please join us as we welcome Cal Millar who will be sharing how Crime Stoppers was started in Hamilton. Cal was one of the founding members of the Toronto Crime Stoppers when it began in 1984. Through his career, he was the director of Crime Stoppers International and on the board of Crime Stoppers in the Halton region.

Cal will tell the story of how Canadian born Greg MacAleese created Crime Stoppers in 1976 while working for the Albuquerque Police Department. MacAleese suggested to Police Chief Bob Stover that a community run program might help to curb lawlessness in what had become one of the most crime-ridden cities in the United States. Today, Crime Stoppers is cited along with fingerprinting and DNA as one of the top three innovations in modern day policing.
